A Little About Little Elm, Texas

If a scenic town surrounding a quiet lake with views from almost every part of the city appeals to you, you’re going to love Little Elm, Texas.

Little Elm is a sweet town that has seen phenomenal growth in the last ten years, expanding from over 3,000 residents to over 25,000 residents during that time; and it’s not hard to see why. For a long time, the city’s almost surreal setting was a hidden gem known only to the few people who lived in the area. As the general Dallas Fort Worth area has grown, more people have discovered the beauty and tranquility of Little Elm and have decided to settle there.

The previously very small town has been working hard to keep pace with all of its new inhabitants, opening roadways and adding services, and at the same time keep the serenity and enchantment of the lovely neighborhood alive and thriving. So far, they have been very successful, with a vibrant, growing town that’s friendly and peaceful; and of course, the lake is still there, providing a focal point for the community as well as many activities.

Little Elm has a charming park system that fully takes advantage of the natural, country setting of the town. With wide, grassy expanses and hike trails, the parks are a welcome way to spend the day for the many families in the area. Just be careful during coyote season. The community council is also set to open an elaborate hydrous wake park for extra fun.

There’s a lovely public library in Little Elm that offers classes for adults such as resume writing and a reading club, as well as story time and a film festival for young children. For more activities, there’s the Little Elm Recreation Center, over 25,000 square feet of gym, fitness center, dance and craft classes, sports and more, for kids and adults alike.

The Cottonwood Creek Marina is the star of the show here. Situated on the Lake lewisville  lakefront, the marina features boating and water fun as well as shorefront bar-b-cue and more.

While there are no large malls or retail centers in Little Elm, there are plenty of shops on the main strip of El Dorado parkway as well as some smaller streets, with all of the important items you might need, such as gourmet food, cute clothing, designer jewelry and more. There are also fast food joints and even some fancier fare. The town is about forty five minutes into Dallas though, so for a shopping spree or finer dining experience, it’s a short trip into big city life.

The independent school system is split between Little Elm district and Frisco district and has one high school. The town has finished a much-anticipated high school athletic stadium that is one the largest in the area. In Texas, townspeople are big high school athletics fans, and they come out and cheer for their teams during games.

Little Elm is a very young community with a median age of only 28 years old. More than 30% of the population is children under age eighteen, and only 4% are people over age 65. Median income is $50,000. So while the overall population is growing, the families are growing as well, making this town a suitable destination for families seeking a community with which to grow. As the community likes to say, this is the place to move if you love being neighborly and helping out when you can; and the gorgeous lake view doesn’t hurt, either.
