Sachse, Texas is a warm, inviting town, the kind of place you’ll feel comfortable calling home. A tranquil locale where the inhabitants are on a first-name basis and often join each other for community activities, it’s the perfect choice for families that want to be a part of genuine Texas hospitality.
Sachse is small, with only twenty thousand residents, a large jump from just ten years ago when there were just ten thousand. The makeup is mostly families, and the population is young. Over half of the households have young children, with 22% of the population school age children and 32% parental age. The median age is 34, and only 7% are over age 65. As with many of the smaller towns in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, Sachse is seeing an expansion boom with all of the employment opportunities nearby, the quality of life, affordability, low taxes and proximity to a major hub with attractions, shopping and an international airport. With a median income of over $70,000, many of the residents are able to afford all that the area has to offer.
Sachse is split between Collin and Dallas Counties, and the school districts fall into three, distinct categories between those and the Sachse district. Those in the latter district have a unique choice to attend any school they want to within that district.
While a small town with a peaceful, quiet reality, Sachse has plenty of local activity for leisure time and enrichment. There is a local library that offers many classes for all age groups, including computer courses, story time and more, and a municipal complex that has all sorts of buildings housing activity centers for residents. There are ten large, grassy parks with sports fields and biking trails, as well as Muddy Creek Nature Preserve set on one hundred and forty seven acres of land with a jogging trail and picnic tables. There is also a classic golf course in the region and several softball leagues for the recreational sports enthusiast.
Since Sachse has such a strong community, most of their local events unite the locals for some together time where they fortify their relationships. There’s cookies with Santa, a huge hit with many cookie entries and loads of fun, and the daddy/daughter dance, which brings out the daddy’s and their girls.
There are several fast food restaurants in town including all of your favorite pizza, burger and donut stops. The fine dining is saved for a night out on the town in Dallas or another one of the nearby larger cities.
Housing is extremely affordable, with many offerings under $200,000, and with the growing population, a strong economic development effort is under way. The community is working to attract retail and other businesses to the town. There is a multi-lane highway connecting Sachse to other cities in the metroplex area, and Sachse is only minutes away from the limelight of Dallas and the international destinations of DFW airport.
For all of its small population and 9.9 miles of city, Sachse has a sophisticated civic system with many initiatives to create the high quality of life residents want. Plus, residents have a say – there are many “town hall” style meetings where residents are invited to hear what the mayor and the community council has to say about new projects and to voice their own opinions.
For peaceful surroundings, a country setting and ease of life right next to excellent job opportunities and the excitement of big city life, Sachse, “hard to say, easy to love,” is a great choice.
